[ARCHIVED] Glendale Station 82 NSFD Construction Update

Shorewood receives fire and EMS services from the North Shore Fire Department (NSFD) deployed from five fire stations. NSFD is funded and governed by a Board of Directors consisting of the chief elected officials of the seven municipalities in the North Shore – City of Glendale, Villages of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, River Hills, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay.

Glendale’s Station 82 is being reconstructed this year. It was originally built by the City of Glendale in 1963 and operated as the Glendale Fire Department until consolidation in 1995. Drone pictures show the progress on Fire Station 82 in Glendale. All pre-cast walls are now set and work on the adjacent office and living space walls has begun.

The facility will now bring together all three of NSFD’s divisions including the Administrative Division, Operations Division, and Support Services Division. In addition, a state-of-the-art fleet maintenance facility is included in the project. The North Shore Health Department (NSHD) will also be relocating into their own wing at this location. NSHD’s offices in Shorewood and Brown Deer will transition to Station 82 in spring of 2024.

What does this mean? Shorewood will continue to receive exemplary services from both the fire and health departments as they respond in the North Shore, whether that be for an emergency call, or “popping up” to provide a blood pressure clinic at Village Center in Shorewood. Their services are mobile, and they will respond to the needs of all communities now in a more collaborative way.
