At its October 19, 2020 Village Board meeting, Village Trustees approved changes to the overnight parking program to be effective January 1, 2021. For more details on the new changes, please read the letter that was emailed on November 25, 2020 to current parkers.
Monthly overnight, on-street parking permits** will be available to all residents and visitors, with a limited of two (2) permits per household/address. The fee is $40 per calendar month. Fees will not be pro-rated for partial months.
First time and current parkers without an AIMS account seeking on-street parking will need to go to the AIMS website, create an account and register your vehicle in order to purchase/renew on-street, overnight monthly parking. There is no deadline; on-street parking permits may be purchased at any time.
Off-Street Parking (Lots)
Monthly overnight, off-street (lot) parking permits** are available to all residents and visitors. Click here to view a map of the overnight parking lot locations. The fee for non-24 hour parking lots is $30 per calendar month; the fee for a 24-hour parking lots is $50 per calendar month. Fees will not be pro-rated for partial months.
First time and current parkers without an AIMS account seeking off-street parking (lots) will need to visit Village Hall or the Police Department to fill out a form, make payment and have staff instruct you on how to create an account, register your vehicle and renew your monthly parking online.
The deadline for renewing online is the 20th of the preceding month. If you miss the deadline, you will not be able to renew online; you will need to contact the Clerk & Customer Service Department at 414.847.2700 or 414.847.2601.
Request Free Overnight Parking Permissions (20 free per calendar year)
Residents and visitors are allowed 20 free on-street alternate-side overnight parking permissions per license plate per calendar year. Residents and visitors can use these permissions by registering their vehicle before 1 a.m. the morning of the requested 3 a.m. - 5 a.m. period. Once you have used your 20 free, on-street overnight parking permissions, you will need to purchase either an: overnight, off-street (lot) permit, if available, overnight, on-street permit.
When you have used all your 20 free on-street alternate-side overnight parking permissions for the calendar year, no additional permissions are available. You will have to purchase either an off-street (lot) monthly permit or an on-street monthly permit. If you choose to purchase an off-street (lot) permit, you will need to contact the Clerk & Customer Service Department at 414-847-2601 at least two (2) business days prior to using your final free permission. If you choose to purchase an on-street permit, you can go to the AIMS website, sign up and purchase online.
You are not required to register your vehicle for on-street alternate-side overnight parking on Saturday mornings, Sunday mornings or certain holiday mornings. Once a request is submitted and accepted, the request cannot be revoked. If you cannot access the website, please contact the Shorewood Police Department at 414.847.2610 and leave your name, license plate number, vehicle description and location you will be parked.
**Permits - There is no physical permit to display in your window or on your car. The Shorewood Police Department uses a LPR (license plate reader) to verify permission. Therefore, it is VERY important that when entering or providing your license plate number AND state that they are correct. If the information entered is not correct, you are subject to receiving a ticket.
