Healthy green and white ash over 12” are treated with a powerful insecticide on a three year rotation to prolong their lifespan. The Village’s long-term EAB management strategy calls for the gradual removal and replacement of the Village’s ash tree population. The insecticide treatments help keep our remaining ash alive in the short term, which allows the slow rebuild of a more diverse and resilient urban forest without the dramatic loss of canopy cover that would occur if all of the ash were removed at one time.
This year’s program will focus on the Northeast portion of the Village.
