Effective May 1, 2023, parking in the Village of Shorewood will be enforced as follows:
General parking regulations are currently located within the Village Code within Article VIII Parking Limits and Regulations of Chapter 500 Vehicles and Traffic.
- As identified in Village Code 500-14(A), there shall be no parking by any unregistered motor vehicle, as prohibited by Wisconsin State Statute 341.65.
- As identified in Village Code 500-14(A), there shall be no parking by any vehicle where the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) has been made impossible to read, removed, altered or obliterated, as prohibited by Wisconsin State Statute 342.30.
- As identified in Village Code 500-14(A), there shall be no parking by any vehicle with excessive parking citations (3 or more unpaid parking citations in excess of 60 days), as prohibited by Wisconsin State Statute 345.28.
- Officers encountering an illegally parked vehicle (defined above) shall review the vehicle status. Upon determining that the vehicle is in violation of Village of Shorewood Ordinance Chapter 500-14 through 500-31, officers shall affix a notice to the vehicle warning that the vehicle will be impounded if the violation is not corrected, or, if applicable, a court appearance is scheduled within three (3) days.
- After three (3) days have passed and the owner has neither paid the forfeiture for each of these violation or scheduled an appearance in court in response to each of these citations, officers can initiate the towing procedure.
