i-voted-sticker_newsflash

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on election day, who has resided in the ward of the municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.

In-Person Absentee Voting

Voters may also vote in-person prior to Election Day at Village Hall. In-person absentee voting is held the two weeks prior to every election, excluding weekends. Voting hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm except Friday, February 17 when voting goes until 5:00 pm. For the upcoming election, in-person absentee voting will begin on Tuesday, February 7 and continue through Friday, February 17, 2023.

In-person absentee voting is done at the Village Hall, 3930 N Murray Avenue. A parking lot and ADA/elevator access are located on the East side of Village Hall. Voter Photo ID is required. Please visit the Voter Photo ID page for more information.

Voting Absentee By Mail

You may request a ballot be sent to you one of three ways:

  1. Go to MyVote.WI.Gov and submit your request online.
  2. Download the application and submit it to the Village Clerk's Office, 3930 N Murray Ave., Shorewood WI 53211.
  3. Email or mail a written request to Village Clerk Toya Harrell. An emailed or written request must be submitted to the Clerk’s Office before an Absentee Ballot can be issued by mail. Both requests require the voter's full name, address and date of birth to be included in the request for verification. Verbal requests cannot be taken. A Photo ID must be provided with written or emailed requests.

Voters are able to request ballots be mailed to them up to 5:00 pm on the 5th day before the election. For the upcoming election, that is Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Once you have received and completed your ballot, do not wait to return it. You are able to send it back right after you are done voting. You may bring ONLY YOUR OWN ballot to the Clerk's office to return it or you can send it in the mail. On Election Day, you may take your completed absentee ballot to the Central Count location, Village Hall Court Room before 8:00 pm.

General questions regarding elections and voting can be directed to the Village Clerk's Office at 414.847.2700 or by emailing cto@shorewoodwi.gov.
