Block parties provide an excellent opportunity for neighbors to get together and socialize. They are an excellent way to welcome new families to the neighborhood and help make them feel connected not only to the neighborhood, but to the Shorewood community as well. And all these connections contribute to making Shorewood a great place to live!
The Village encourages building on these neighborhood connections. So, if you are interested in holding a block party for your neighborhood, here are a few things to remember as you plan your gathering:
- The Village has sufficient barricades for up to five (5) block parties per/day or weekend, so get your request in early.
- Neighbors should be notified of the proposed street closing and sign the petition indicating their consent.
- The signed petition must be submitted at least two (2) weeks in advance of your selected date. See pages 2 and 3 of the petition for additional information.
