Volunteers Needed
Typically at least 8 volunteers are needed for the 4th of July parade. Currently only one person has volunteered to help. The Village also needs at least two more jeeps and two additional vehicles for the parade. If you are available to help any time between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. or have a vehicle you'd be willing to drive in the parade, please contact Sarah DeNeve at
events@villageofshorewood.org.
Fireworks will stay at Atwater Park
After several meetings and recent changes to guidelines and protocols, the Village of Shorewood is deciding to keep the fireworks at Atwater Park. The fireworks will go off at 9:30 p.m. or dusk at Atwater Park. We strongly encourage all community members to wear a mask to assure everyone remains safe while attending this community event, especially those who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccination such as children 11 and younger.
Originally, the Village was coordinating with Milwaukee County Parks to have the fireworks event at Estabrook Park to provide easier ability for social distancing with more open space available. Since the Village applied for the special event permit through Milwaukee County Parks, a number of guidelines have changed, including the CDC's guidelines for face masks for those that have been vaccinated and the Village's face covering ordinance. As staff continued to meet with Milwaukee County Parks, there were other logistical challenges that began to arise with Estabrook Park as a site location.
The Village is in need of your help to spread the word to neighbors and community members. As a reminder, the parade will begin at 3:00 p.m. along Oakland Avenue starting at Kensington Blvd. and ending at Edgewood Ave. Those that still want to be a part of the parade, sponsor an entertainer, or volunteer to help with the parade lineup, please contact
events@villageofshorewood.org. We need a great amount of help in a number of areas; so please don't hesitate to reach out to help.
