[ARCHIVED] Board of Appeals Convenes to Review Parking Special Exception

Village Hall

On Tuesday, April 13, the Board of Appeals was convened to review the Plan Commission’s February 23 approval of a Parking Special Exception. That Special Exception was requested by Catalyst Partners in association with a potential redevelopment of the properties at 2418, 2420 and 2428 E. Capitol Dr. into a 42-unit, 4-story apartment building with ground floor parking. The Village’s parking requirements stipulate that 1.75 enclosed parking spaces be required, for a total of 74. However, based on arguments in their application, the developer had requested that only 43 enclosed parking spaces be required. On a vote of 5-1, the Plan Commission approved that request.

Subsequently, the Village received an appeal of that decision from neighbors who believe they were aggrieved by the approval. The Board of Appeals was convened to receive evidence of the matter and listen to public comment. At the close of the public hearing, the Board voted to adjourn the meeting until May 4 so that the evidence could be reviewed. Information pertaining to the appeal may be found within the April 13, 2021 Board of Appeals packet.

The May 4 virtual meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. You can find the agenda and call in information on the Village website.
