Electrician
The Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Village street lighting system; traffic control light system; warning, regulatory and miscellaneous signs; all lights, wiring and electrical equipment in Village buildings and property; and the maintenance of barricades. The position will participate in winter operations including salting, plowing, hauling snow from Village streets, alleys, parking lots, and sidewalks.
Minimum qualifications include a High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by 24 college credits and six years of experience in the electrical or building trades with one year completing street lighting work; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Selected candidate must successfully complete a drug test and physical to show they can perform the physical demands listed in the job description. Must possess a commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 6 months. It is preferred for candidates to be a certified licensed electrician with the State of Wisconsin. Salary range is $51,300 - $64,670 annually with full benefits.
DPW Seasonals
The Village of Shorewood's Department of Public Works is recruiting individuals to be a part of their summer seasonal staff. Seasonal positions will assist the Forestry Division with planting, trimming, pruning, watering and maintaining lawns, flowers, trees, and decorative plantings. Other responsibilities include removing litter and other debris from the commercial district or municipal buildings, assisting with garbage and brush collection, and helping with road maintenance tasks.
Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED). Applicants must also have possession of a valid Wisconsin Drivers License and meet the physical demands of the position, which requires regular lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds. The pay range for a DPW seasonal is $10.00 to $12.50 per hour.
The Village is also recruiting for an Urban Forestry Intern and a Horticultural Intern. These position earn between $12.50 and $14.50 per hour. You can view the entire job descriptions of all these DPW positions
