[ARCHIVED] Voting In-Person Absentee for Fall 2020 Election

hero absentee

You can now vote in-person absentee for the November 2020 election. Please remember photo ID is required for in-person absentee voting. Absentee Voting will be held in the Village Center, 3920 N. Murray Ave. (Lower level of the Library) from October 20 – 29 (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and October 30 (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).

If you received an absentee ballot and need assistance obtaining a witness signature, call Mary Jo McDonald at 414.962.8195.

If you would still like an absentee ballot mailed to you, visit MyVote.wi.gov or submit a paper application. Remember to include a Photo ID. The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed is Thursday, October 29 by 5:00 p.m. Ballots can no longer be emailed with the exception of military and overseas voters.

Some voters who requested and have been issued an absentee ballot have been coming to the in-person absentee polling location at Village Center to vote.  For these voters, election workers will ask if they brought the ballot with them.  If they did, they are asked if they want to vote with that ballot.  If they do want to vote with that ballot, they proceed to the poll booth.  If they did not bring the ballot, they can go home and bring it back or the Village can issue a new ballot.  Issuing a new ballot takes a few minutes longer to cancel the original ballot and re-issue a new one.

Voters are asked, if they can, to return their un-voted ballot into the white drop box at the Village Hall parking lot to be properly disposed or properly dispose on their own so a live ballot is not unaccounted for.

Voters are encouraged, if they received a mailed ballot and want to vote in-person on November 3, to contact the Municipal Clerk’s Office ahead of time to cancel the original mailed ballot before Election Day.  Voters can still vote, but it will just take a little longer to verify that the mailed ballot has not been returned.

All votes will be tabulated on Election Day and results are not final until the absentees are fully processed.  If voters have any questions, they should contact the Municipal Clerk’s Office and Customer Service at 414-847-2700.
