Hydrant flushing is performed annually in an effort to clear the mains of water that may be discolored or have sat in hydrant laterals for extended periods of time.
Generally flushing disturbs the water in the mains and causes small particles of rust or calcium buildup to dislodge and suspend in the water. This water may appear in your home as discolored and may have a yellow to orange to red color. This water, while unappetizing, poses not health threats but may stain clothing.
Please refrain from washing clothing between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. during the week hydrants in your area are schedule for flushing. (Schedule and map)
The Village will begin leaf collection on Monday, October 19. Prior to this date, leaves must be bagged for collection. For October 19 and future leaf collections, please rake leaves into piles at the edge of the curb on the parkway (the area between the sidewalk and curb), but do not place leaves in the street. Leaves in the street are more likely to clog inlet drains and cause street flooding. For schedule and additional information, please visit the Village's website.
