[ARCHIVED] Voter Information for the 2020 Spring Election

My Vote Wisconsin

General Information

Are you a new resident? Have you just turned 18? Have you moved? Have you changed your name? Submit your voter registration now! Online voter registration, which had been previously suspended in Wisconsin, will resume online on Tuesday, March 24 on www.myvote.wi.gov. If you are unable to register to vote or change your address using the online option or need to vote by appointment, please contact your respective Municipal Clerk’s Office at 414-847-2700.

The process to register is easy. Simply go to http://myvote.wi.gov and click “Register to Vote” to begin the process. Once you have completed your entry, you can print, sign, and mail your registration form, along with proof of residence. The website will provide you with information about what forms of proof of residence are acceptable.

Absentee Voting

The north shore communities of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Glendale, River Hills, Shorewood, and Whitefish Bay will no longer be operating in-person absentee or “early voting” at each Village and City Hall due to the increased COVID-19 exposure risk for the public, poll workers, and municipal employees.

Given our communities longstanding dedication to fair and equitable elections, the decision to end early voting in the seven communities has been exceptionally difficult for all involved. However, given daily increases in COVID-19 cases on the local level, a critical balance must be achieved between access to voting and the health of election workers and the public.

Voters may still request an absentee ballot online at My Vote Wisconsin.  You may be required to attach a copy of your Photo ID. Selfies do not count as a Photo ID.  The current deadline to request a ballot by mail is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3. However, please request as soon as possible to ensure timely delivery.  Ballots may be dropped off in the mailbox outside of Village Hall in the parking lot.  Ballots mailed with the post mark date of April 7 will still be accepted up until Monday, April 13 at 4:00 p.m.

Poll Locations

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7. The Village has three polling locations: Village Center, 3920 N Murray Ave., Shorewood High School, 1701 E Capitol Drive, and North Shore Presbyterian Church, 4048 N Bartlett Ave. To find your polling place, please visit My Vote Wisconsin.  For more information, visit http://myvote.wi.gov or contact the Village Clerk, Sara Bruckman, CMC/WCMC at sbruckman@villageofshorewood.org or 414.847.2700.

Please note the Village of Shorewood is taking the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) very seriously. Voting surfaces will be cleaned regularly. We encourage people who are more prone to illness to request an absentee ballot by mail. We do not want residents to lose their opportunity to vote if the virus becomes more of an issue close to election day. Voters are welcome to bring their own black or blue ball point pen and should wash or sanitize their hands before and after they use the polling place.
