The North Shore Fire/Rescue Department (NSFD) just announced the bid results for fire station in Shorewood. The estimate cost for the station was $3.95 million. The winning bid came in at a cost of $3.19 million, which is $759,000 less than originally estimated.
NSFD is preparing an offer to purchase the fire station and property from the Village. They have yet to make a decision on solar for the renovated station. NSFD will be making that decision on October 8 when they approve the contract for renovation. Since NSFD is not able to bond for these projects, the Village of Whitefish Bay will be borrowing for this project on their behalf. All seven North Shore communities must approve and agree to repayment of the Whitefish Bay bonds for purposes of this project. This process is scheduled to conclude by January 1, 2020 and construction to begin thereafter.
