Most Shorewood residents by now have recognized the electric rental scooters returned to the Milwaukee area. The City of Milwaukee is initiating a dockless scooter pilot study to observe, solicit feedback, and evaluate the effectiveness of dockless scooters. The pilot will run through December 31, 2019.
Dockless scooters have the potential to increase transportation options, expand access to transit, and provide municipalities an opportunity to further review access to the public right of way. Lime is the current dockless scooter operator working with the City of Milwaukee on the pilot program.
At the Village Board meeting this past Monday, it was requested for the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee to review and consider recommending potential regulations for the electric dockless scooters. Specifically, the committee will review the following ways to regulate the scooters in Shorewood:
The Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee will review these potential regulations and propose recommendations for the Village Board to consider in September or October.
