Neighbor of the Year
Shorewood Connects is pleased to announce this year’s “Shorewood Neighbor of the Year” winner: Jenny Vulpas.
Jenny is a longtime resident of Shorewood who looks out for her neighbors by house/pet sitting, hosting gatherings, coordinating meals for neighbors who are dealing with illnesses and through other acts of kindness. Jenny has also shared her graphic design talents with neighbors, helping with flyers and t-shirts; she has also hosted several gatherings for neighbors to make art.
As one of her nominators stated in the application, “Jenny is a kind and generous person. She is appreciated for the many ways she brings people together to form community.” Congratulations, Jenny!
Neighborhood of the Year
The 2019 “Shorewood Neighborhood of the Year” award goes to the Eastwood Neighborhood.
While not a typical neighborhood, these residences on Oakland and Shorewood Blvd. exemplify the spirit of neighborliness, from having Welcome Ambassadors for new residents to hosting summer picnics and holiday parties, along with caring for neighbors in times of need.
Eastwood residents make a point of connecting with each other and developing regular lines of communication. Eastwood is a testament to the many ways that people can form a neighborhood.
