The month of May is Pedestrian and Bike Safety Month. Get ready for several fun events encouraging residents and children to walk and bike in Shorewood safely.
Share the Walk Parade
Help kick off the 3rd Annual Pedestrian and Bike Safety Month with the Annual “Share the Walk Parade” on Thursday, May 2 at 3:00 p.m. Participants gather outside of the Metro Market and walk as a group along the sidewalks and through the crosswalks to Village Hall to promote pedestrian safety.
The visual presence is a reminder to drivers to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and to cyclists to share the sidewalk with pedestrians by walking bikes through busy areas. The Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee is again partnering with the Senior Resource Center and the Shorewood Police Department and would love to have you join them!
First Ride and Bike Rodeo
On Saturday, May 4 there will be two bike events on the same afternoon! Join for a fun day of bicycle education! The event is free for Shorewood Residents, but please register ahead of time so they know how many people to expect.
First Ride: Ages 3 & up. Children will learn bike safety with the proven ‘balancing first’ method. Last check-in time is at 1:00 pm.
Bike Rodeo: Grades 2 – 6. This clinic will educate parents and children on bike safety, traffic rules, and more! Last check-in time is at 3:00 pm.
Brought to you by the Shorewood Recreation and Community Services Department, North Shore Health Department, North Shore Fire/Rescue, Shorewood Police Department, and Pinnacle Bike Service.
