[ARCHIVED] 2019 Alley Reconstruction Program

2019 alley reconstruction program

The Village of Shorewood's 2019 infrastructure improvements include the reconstruction of several alleys within the Village.  A contract for the work has been awarded to All-Ways Construction.  The project is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of April 8, weather permitting.

The project includes reconstruction of the following alley segments:

  • Alley 1:  1500-1700 blocks of E. Beverly Rd. / E. Newton Ave.
  • Alley 2A/2B:  4000 block of N. Wilson Dr. / N. Woodburn Ave. (green alley)
  • Alley 3:  4000 block of N. Morris Blvd. / N. Larkin St.
  • Alley 4A/4B:  4300 block of N. Sheffield Ave. / N. Marlborough Dr. (green alley)
  • Alley 5:  4400 block of N. Morris Blvd. / N. Larkin St.
  • Alley 6:  4400 block of N. Newhall St. / N. Bartlett Ave.
  • Alley 7:  4500 block of N. Woodburn St. / N. Morris Blvd.
  • Alley 8:  4500 block of N. Larkin St. / N. Newhall St.

The project will include full reconstruction of the alleys including removal of existing pavement, stone base beneath the pavement and any unsuitable soils.  Storm sewer will also be installed in key areas to improve drainage.  The alleys will be repaved in asphalt.  Alleys 2 and 4 will be reconstructed as "green alleys" incorporating stormwater quality features. Additional information on these features can be found on the project website:  www.villageofshorewood.org/2019alleys.

For those interested in learning more about the projects, there will be a public information meeting on Thursday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Court Room.  Moving forward, you can also receive weekly project email updates by visiting www.villageofshorewood.org/notifyme.
