[ARCHIVED] Public Works Announcements for April

Bagged Yard Waste Collection

Bagged yard waste collection begins the week of April 1 (same day as residential solid waste, click here for schedule). All yard waste must be bagged in paper yard waste bags or placed in special yard waste karts. Yard waste is collected from the curb only with no alley pickup. For the safety of our crew, a 30-pound weight limit applies to each bag; bags exceeding this weight cannot be collected manually and will require additional equipment and fees. All collected yard waste is composted at an off-site facility. Bags which contain dirt or sod cannot be collected as this material is not compostable. Please contact the DPW office at 414.847.2650 to inquire about options for disposing of dirt or sod.

DPW Compactor and Recycling Center

The DPW compactor and recycling center (3801 N. Morris Blvd.) will be open to the public for its summer schedule starting in April. The summer schedule is the first and third Saturdays of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Proof of residency is required to use the facility. Fees for disposal of household refuse and/or yard waste apply as follows. No multi-axle vehicles, construction or demolition debris can be accepted.

  • $12 per car or minivan
  • $17 per pickup truck, van, SUV or minivan with seats removed
  • $7 per load additional for trailer
  • $77 per moving truck / van

Please click here for additional information on large and bulky refuse disposal options. Contact DPW at 414.847.2650 to ask any questions you may have.

Organics Collection Schedule is now Weekly

For residents who are participating in the voluntary organics collection program, it will become weekly pickup starting Thursday, April 4. Weekly collection will continue through November when Compost Crusader returns to their biweekly winter schedule. If you'd like to print out a schedule for the remainder of 2019, click here.  If any residents want to learn more about the voluntary program and get on the waiting list with Compost Crusader, visit this website.
