[ARCHIVED] Meet the New Shorewood Dog Mascot

Mika

The Parks Commission selected Mika to be the Shorewood Loves Dogs campaign mascot. Mika's owner is Tasha Weston. Mika loves to keep Tasha company with some snuggles as her boyfriend is currently deployed. Mika has a floppy ear and was a stray before being rescued by Tasha.

Tasha and Mika will be working with the Parks Commission and the Shorewood Waters Project to put together educational materials on the environmental hazards of dog waste in our waterways, tips to manage doge waste, and highlight ordinances that will keep Shorewood residents and their dogs safe. This campaign is the celebration of love for dogs and the community.

You will be able to meet Mika at upcoming public events this year and learn about this important information. In case Mika is unable to serve in her "mascot" duties, Hank (the dog of Jennie and Allen Gerrard) is the runner up and will serve as the backup to Mika.

We want to thank our sponsors for providing prizes for first and second place: Amenson Design & Photography, Dr. Noah's Ark Veterinary Clinic, Bentley's Pet Stuff, and Vanity Fur Dog Grooming. We also want to give Kae Donlevy with the Shorewood Waters Project a special thanks for her coordination efforts. To learn more about the Shorewood Loves Dogs campaign, go here.
