The Village of Shorewood values civic engagement and opportunities to learn about civic services. The Village is bringing back the Shorewood Citizen's Academy for a third year to allow residents and visitors a chance to learn about their community.
This is an innovative program that offers community leaders and officials a chance to talk about services and volunteer opportunities. The citizen's academy serves as a new tool that enhances the Village's communication by creating a hands-on learning opportunity for several individuals. The sessions range from a history of Shorewood, elected officials and voting, public works, planning and economic development, education and learning. The academy will start January 31, 2019 and run six weeks every Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Starting today, the Village of Shorewood has posted the application for the Citizens Academy online . Interested participants will be able to sign up for sessions by filling out an application here or physical copies that will be available at Village Hall or the Village Center Lobby. There will be approximately 20 spots reserved for participants and spots will be filled based on when the completed application is submitted.. The last date to turn in applications for the 2019 Citizen's Academy will be Friday, December 21.
