[ARCHIVED] Postmark Update from USPS on Tax Payments

taxes_newsflash

The USPS will be moving the postmark process from local application to regional sorting centers.

What This Means for Taxpayers

Mail may take a little longer to receive a postmark.

To avoid problems, taxpayers are encouraged to mail property tax payments earlier than usual.

How Property Tax Payment Dates Work

Payments received within the 5-day grace period are counted as on time, even if the postmark is late.

Payments received after the grace period must be: Properly addressed, and Postmarked by midnight on the due date to be counted as on time.

Late payments may still be accepted as on time if the delay was caused by the USPS or a mailing error.

Helpful Tip

To make sure your payment arrives on time, please mail it early or use online or in person payment options if available.
