[ARCHIVED] DPW Begins Fall Tree Planting Program

On average, the bareroot trees cost 30-40% as much as a comparable balled and burlapped tree, yet require less labor and aftercare to install and maintain. Since beginning the current planting system in 2020, over 950 bareroot trees have been planted with survival in excess of 95%.

For each planting site, the Forestry department selects a new tree species based on an assortment of criteria including site conditions, localized species diversity and safety clearance. Residences getting new trees will receive a door hanger with species and care information.
