[ARCHIVED] DPW School to Begin this Spring

DPW SCHOOL newsflash

The program will entail four monthly sessions, beginning in March with a course on the Village infrastructure and construction management. In April, instructors will review local water and sewer operations; in May they will examine fleet, facilities and winter maintenance; and June participants will learn about the DPW field services with insights from the staffs of forestry, street maintenance, collections and transfer station areas.

“We are excited to give residents a glimpse of DPW behind the scenes”, shares Public Works Director Leeann Butschlick. “Generally, if people don’t notice us that means we’re doing our best work. There is so much that goes into our operations that our residents never see or have to think about. What we do is not always complicated, but it is complex.”

  • Thursday, March 13 beginning at 6:00 pm in the Village Center – Infrastructure Planning & Management
  • Thursday, April 17 beginning at 6:00 pm in the Village Center – Water & Sewer Utility Operation & Maintenance
  • Saturday, May 10 beginning at 10:00 am in the DPW building – Fleet & Facility Maintenance (includes equipment demonstrations)
  • Saturday, June 14 beginning at 10:00 am in the DPW building – Field Services (collections, forestry, street maintenance demonstrations)

Registration is required but attendance at all session is not. Participate when it fits your interest and schedule! For more information and to sign up, please call or email the DPW at 414.847.2650 or dpw@shorewoodwi.gov.
