[ARCHIVED] UPDATE - New 4th of July Parade Route

4th parade route 2024_newsflash

Hearing feedback from the community to provide safety and security for the event, we will not cross Capitol Dr. to go south to River Park/Spector Field. Instead, the parade will begin at its normal starting point at Kensington and Oakland, then head south down Oakland Avenue. Just before Capitol Dr., the parade will head east on Elmdale Ct. to end at Atwater Elementary School. This will allow activation of the space at Atwater Elementary School so the kids can play on the playground after the parade. The parade will start at 3:00 PM and the fireworks will begin at Atwater Park around 9:00 PM/dusk. Remember, the parade ends at Atwater Elementary School, and the fireworks will be at Atwater Park.

Regarding the parade, interested participants were sent a new application to fill out so our event coordinator can know a bit more about their float/vehicle ensuring it’s a fun parade for all members of the family. Lastly, if you or someone you know has a jeep, truck, or classic car and would like to drive one of our participants in the parade, or if you’d like to help by volunteering in the staging area as we secure our lineup, please email event coordinator Sarah at events@shorewoodwi.gov.
