[ARCHIVED] Police Department Drug Take Back Event Results

drugtakebackresults

By bringing medications to the PD, participants removed dangerous pharmaceutical substances from medicine cabinets and prevented them from getting into the wrong hands and going into our water supply by not being flushed down toilets or poured down drains. Water reclamation facilities are not designed to remove all medications that enter our water supply. Because of this, trace amounts of pharmaceuticals are being detected in rivers and lakes around the world.

For those who were unable to bring in medications for this event, another Take Back event will be scheduled in the fall. Until then, please remember that between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, the Shorewood Police Department receives unused, unwanted and/or expired prescription medications year-round except on holidays and weekends. Please view DHS' website for which items are acceptable and which are not.

Thank you to all who participated and for keeping our water supply and homes safer!
