The Village Board approved the installation of Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) at the intersection of Capitol Drive and Oakland Avenue in the fall of 2023.
The APS devices were installed on poles at this intersection this week. They help pedestrians who are blind or have low vision cross the street, click here for a video on how the signals work.
This is one of the many pedestrian enhancements the Village Board has reviewed over the last few months. There will be more to come in 2024 as the Village updates our Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan.
