[ARCHIVED] Village Seeking Applicants for Volunteer Committees

Village Hall_newsflash

Consider being a part of one of the volunteer committees below and join the conversations (and solutions) that keep our Village thriving!

The Community Development Authority (CDA) meets as needed on the first Friday morning of the month at 9:00 am. Their focus is on availability of affordable housing, enhancement and preservation of the Village’s commercial property and strengthening of the long-term economic viability of the Village.

Make an impact where it matters - three openings are available on the Conservation Committee for residents passionate about sustainability. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm.

If you’re a design professional, real estate agent or have knowledge about the construction industry, consider serving the community on the Design Review Board (DRB). The DRB meets twice a month and reviews the quality and aesthetics of exterior improvements throughout the village.

Help shape services for older adults in Shorewood! We’re looking for residents to join the Elder Services Advisory Board. This volunteer board meets monthly and plays an important role in advising the Senior Resource Center, guiding the Shorewood Connects project, and advocating  for the needs and interests of residents age 60 and older. If you care about aging well in our community and want to help shape programs and priorities, we’d love to hear from you.

Do you have a background in human resources and hiring? If so, you could be a great fit for a recent opening on the North Shore Fire Department Fire Commission. Each municipality on the North Shore appoints one representative. The Commission is responsible for performing discipline, firefighter recruitment, promotions, and terminations. Meetings are on an as-needed basis approximately eight (8) times a year and held in the late afternoon, early evening.

Help shape how Shorewood moves, plays, and connects! The Parks and Public Spaces Committee is seeking a new member passionate about parks, public spaces, and pedestrian and bicycle safety. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm.

Residents interested in land use issues including zoning regulations, long range plans, and plan implementation may wish to apply to serve on the Village’s Plan Commission. The Plan Commission is scheduled to meet once a month and often serves as a referral body to the Village Board providing advisory recommendations on topics such as zoning amendments.

Bring creativity to the community! Join the Public Art Committee and help guide the selection and placement of public art throughout Shorewood. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at 8:30 am.

If any of these committees make you say to yourself, “Ooo, that one!”, please fill out the Volunteer Appointment Application (https://www.villageofshorewood.org/FormCenter/Boards-Commissions-5/Volunteer-Appointment-Application-50). We'd love to have you join.
