[ARCHIVED] Adopted 2026 Budget

2025226TaxLevyComposition

To help illustrate what the Village portion supports: For a home valued at $340,000, the Village levy portion of the tax bill is approximately: $1,800 (This is the amount supporting all Village services - including public safety, public works, streets, engineering, parks, the library, planning & zoning, and general government services.)

This example reflects the Village levy only, based on the 2026 budget and 2025 assessed values.

Understanding Your Property Tax Bill: Where Your Dollars Go and What They Support - Each winter, property owners receive a single tax bill — but it represents several taxing entities, each with its own independently adopted budget and levy. The Village of Shorewood collects the full payment and then distributes the appropriate shares to each taxing body.

For the average Shorewood homeowner, the Village’s portion represents only one part of the total property tax bill.

Who Receives Your Property Tax Dollars?

Your 2025 tax bill supports the following local and regional services:

  • Shorewood School District
  • Milwaukee County
  • Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD)
  • Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC)
  • Whitefish Bay School District (for eligible parcels)
  • Village of Shorewood

While the Village is responsible for collecting payments, each of these entities sets its own levy based on service demands, operating needs, and statutory limitations.
