CrimeReports is an interactive, web-based service that will allow citizens to view the activity of the Shorewood Police Department online. The service also allows users to create and receive alerts pertaining to activity that has taken place within the Village of Shorewood as well as submit tips to police regarding criminal activity in the area. This service also has mobile applications for Apple and Android devices so users can access this information or submit tips from anywhere they have access to the internet.
The Police Department feels this tool will be a valuable resource to inform citizens of criminal activity and crime trends so that citizens can take the appropriate precautions to lessen their chances of becoming a crime victim. Additionally, the potential surveillance video that may become available to the police through CrimeReports.com could help lead to the identification and arrest of suspects involved in criminal acts within the village.
CrimeReports also provides users the ability to register their own home security cameras and smart doorbells so that Police will know where they can check for possible video footage to aid in the investigation of criminal acts within the village. Registering your camera does not give the police full access to your camera or video footage, it simply gives the police department information as to where security cameras are located within the village and who they can contact in order to ask about seeing/obtaining the video. The location of registered cameras will not be known to the public.
We encourage everyone to participate in CrimeReports.com so that we all can help ensure and enhance the quality of life in Shorewood. Please visit www.crimereports.com to register or learn more information about this service.
