At the Polls

On Election Day, voters must show proof of identification at the polling locations prior to voting.

Absentee Voting

Voters (some exceptions apply) requesting an absentee ballot by mail must provide a copy of their proof of identification along with the absentee ballot request. Voters voting absentee ballots in the Clerk's office will be asked to provide proof of identification prior to receiving a ballot.

Valid Proof of Identification Must Contain

  • Elector's Photograph - The photograph must reasonably resemble the elector.
  • Elector's Name - The elector's name must conform to the name on the voter registration; conform does not mean that the name must be identical to the name on the voter registration
  • An Expiration - If the ID has an expiration date, it must meet the expiration requirements.
