Traffic and Parking Requests

The Shorewood Village Board of Trustees has adopted Policy 43 Traffic and Parking Regulation Request Program to establish a standardized process to evaluate the request for the installation or modification of traffic controls or traffic calming measures, and parking regulations within the Village of Shorewood.

Traffic Control

The Village maintains thousands of traffic signs all of which must conform to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Wisconsin Supplement to the MUTCD. Stop and yield signs are used to assign right-of-way between conflicting movements of vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians at intersections. Stop and yield signs are not used to control vehicle speeds or traffic volumes.

Parking

The 2020 Transportation and Parking Analysis evaluated the Village's parking system and provided recommendations to improve its operation and efficiency. A primary goal of these recommendations was consistency and simplicity for use and enforcement.

Requests

Requests for modification may be submitted via the Traffic and Parking Regulation Request Form. Traffic requests may be submitted to dpw@shorewoodwi.gov and parking requests should be forwarded to pad@villageofshorewood.org.
