Village Adds Security Guard to Monitor Atwater Beach for the Remaining Season

Shorewood Beach

The Village hired a security guard to monitor Atwater Beach for the remainder of this season, starting on Thursday, August 3 and continuing through Monday, September 4 (Labor Day).

The security personnel will be assigned to the beach during peak beach hours from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The guard will wear a shirt with "Security" on the back and otherwise be in civilian attire appropriate to the location.  No lifeguards are available for this season and swimming at any hour will continue to be at the patrons own risk.

While the recent tragic drowning occurred north of the public beach, and in the evening after lifeguards or security monitors would no longer have been on duty, the Village wants to extend every effort to make beach attendance a safe experience.  The security guard will be in place to enforce beach rules, answer questions and provide assistance. Please enjoy the rest of your summer season.
