Temporary Nightly Parking Permissions
Effective immediately, the fee for requesting temporary, on-street overnight parking permissions has been eliminated.
Residents/Visitors of the Village of Shorewood are allowed 20 temporary, on-street overnight parking permissions per license plate in a calendar year. Residents/Visitors can use these permissions by registering their vehicle before 1 a.m. the morning of the requested 3 - 5 a.m. period. You are not required to register your vehicle for on-street, overnight parking on Saturday mornings, Sunday mornings or certain holiday mornings. (Those dates will be grayed out on the registration page.) Once a request is submitted and accepted, the request cannot be revoked. Calls to the Shorewood Police Department to arrange overnight parking will be redirected to the Village website.
Once a resident/visitor uses their 20 free temporary, on-street, overnight parking permissions, they will not be able to request additional permissions. Residents/Visitors are encouraged to contact the Clerk & Customer Service Department at 414-847-2601 at least two (2) business days prior to using their final free permission in order to make arrangements to purchase monthly off-street overnight parking on one of the Village-managed lots.
Construction Access ParkingTemporary overnight parking permissions that exempt residents and/or employees from night parking regulations (outside of N. Oakland Ave. and E. Capitol Dr.) needed due to construction access issues may be granted by the Planning and Development Department. Daytime exemptions are also allowed, if the resident or employee is located within a defined congestion area or on a street with posted daytime parking limits. Construction parking permission may be approved for a period of up to 30 days. Extensions may be granted, but only by request and if the construction project is still in progress.
Construction parking may be requested by completing the Special Construction Parking Request form or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the required information. The form requires contact information of the individual making the request, the make, model and license plate number of the vehicle(s) needing permission and the address where the construction project is taking place.
For information, please contact the Planning and Development Department at 414-847-2640.
Winter Parking & Snow Emergencies
Parking is restricted to one side of the street from December 1 through March 1 on most neighborhood streets to facilitate snow removal. Streets with this regulation are clearly posted "No Parking Dec 1 - March 1".
A snow emergency can be declared in events of heavy snowfall or other inclement weather. During a snow emergency, no vehicle of any type may be parked on a street or alley during the duration of a snow emergency.
Snow emergencies are declared by the Village Manager and are announced on local radio and television stations. Residents may also call the Shorewood Police Department at 414.847.2610 to see if a snow emergency has been declared.
